“Feel My Pain” is a particularly meticulous guitar composition that i remember playing over and over back when writing it and then even more so when i had finished it, sort-of possessed.
We added a lot to this later only to strip it back again favoring the raw to the chamber-pop this go ’round. Spectral arrangement and a mellow-ominous delivery (if such a thing is possible)…

Considered one of the great lost classics of Italian neo-realism, this bleak drama was the debut feature of filmmaker Marco Bellocchio. Lou Castel stars as Alessandro, an epileptic from a large family of similarly afflicted siblings, headed up by a blind matriarch (Liliana Gerace). The only healthy member of the family is Alessandro's brother Augusto (Marino Mase), who wants to marry his girlfriend but refuses to saddle a bride with the enormous burden of helping to care for his ailing relatives. Sympathetic to Augusto's plight, Alessandro decides to murder the rest of the family so as to set his brother free and assure him of an inheritance. After hurling his mother into a ravine and drowning his little brother, Alessandro returns home to suffer a seizure. Long hailed by critics and historians as an unjustly ignored film, I Pugni in Tasca (1965) was one of 15 titles selected by New York's Museum of Modern Art for its "Second Act" retrospective of post-war Italian cinema in the spring of 2000.

James Jackson Toth is a musical force to be reckoned with, and you're either watching the tides that herald new offerings or you're left wondering what all the fuss is about. RSTB has for a long time been watching those tides ebb and flow, pulled by the moon, mortality, desperation and drink and eventually hewn into rough toothed instruments of creation and destruction that refuse to be hemmed in by genre or expectation. On his third album with the group of musicians who jumped aboard the Homewood Studio sessions that wrought Briarwood, Toth begins by shaving away some of the good vibes and large sound that swaddled the last two records. He and the band, now dubbed The World War IV, cut two distinct sides, and the first is rubbed raw, bone stark and delivered with more than a little dirt in the teeth.

La petite Lili (Claude Miller, 2003)

Inspired by The Seagull, Claude Miller's La Petite Lili takes place in present day Brittany. While Chekhov’s play was set in a theatrical milieu, longtime Truffaut associate Miller (Alias Betty) sets his film in a cinematic one (a là Day For Night). The title character is an aspiring actress (Ludivine Sagnier, Swimming Pool), who is seeing experimental filmmaker Julien (Robertson Stévenin). She would prefer to be working with an established commercial director like Brice (Bernard Giraudeau, Ridicule), who is involved with his leading lady--Julien's mother, Mado (Nicole Garcia). By the conclusion, Lili will have achieved her goal, but at what cost? Well, unlike The Seagull, La Petite Lili isn't a tragedy, so no one character will make out too badly. And as in François Ozon's Water Drops on Burning Rocks, itself based on a play (by Rainer Werner Fassbinder), Sagnier and Giraudeau make for a strangely compelling screen couple.

Lou Reed, Velvet Underground Leader and Rock Pioneer, Dead at 71

Famed US songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed has died, US music magazine Rolling Stone reported.
Reed, who the magazine said passed away on Sunday, had undergone a liver transplant in May.
Born in New York in 1942, Reed found success with legendary 1960s band the Velvet Underground and produced music that influenced generations of musicians.
After leaving the band in 1970, he embarked on a solo career during which time he released the David Bowie-produced album Transformer and was thrust into rock superstardom.
Reed recently had a number of health problems but was hopeful.
"I am a triumph of modern medicine, physics and chemistry," he wrote on the social media. "I am bigger and stronger than stronger than ever."
The magazine gave scant details about the death, and Reed's representatives could not immediately be reached to confirm the news.

Bernhardovi romani daju redak primer kako se zavodljivošću može zaseniti ideologija. Tako je austrijski pisac napadan za mizantropstvo, iako je svoje delo, pravom literarnom subverzijom, prožeo sasvim suprotnim tonom

Izjava "Svi Austrijanci su maloumni" koju je Tomas Bernhard dao primajući Državnu nagradu za literaturu, testamentarna zabrana da se njegovi radovi štampaju/igraju u domovini, te srodno odsečni, usmeni i prozni iskazi ovog autora, uticali su na neke kritičare da u njegovom delu definitivno prepoznaju ispis mizantropskog diskursa. Da takvog tumačenja ima čak i u sredini lišenoj iole razudjenije recepcije Bernharda, pokazuje pogovor za zbirku kratkih priča "Ludilo" u kome Nikola B. Cvetković pripisuje autoru "tirade mržnje" i sl. No, ko se vodi izjavama austrijskog pisca, taj bi mogao naći i one, suprotno koncipirane. Prema pogovoru za američko izdanje "Gubitnika" (The University of Chicago Press, 1991), Bernhard je ovako video razloge za odijum koji je izazivao: "Nečiji idealistički literarni rad može kod čitaoca proizvesti gadjenje."

Majls: autobiografija, poput samog čoveka, ništa ne zataškava. Majls otvoreno govori o svojim problemima sa drogom, brojnim ženama koje je imao, o rasizmu sa kojim se susretao. Agnes Obel's pristine, delicate 2010 debut, Philharmonics, was an unexpected platinum-selling sensation in her home country of Denmark, and a hit throughout Europe. The sudden fame left her reeling, and on Aventine, the classically trained pianist/singer has tried to make sense of things. Accompanied mainly by a single cellist, she has created a quiet, watchful record – a response to having spent 18 months in "a blur" of touring. The lyrics are impressionistic sketches (on Fuel to Fire, she sighs: "Roses on parade, they follow you round"), suggesting she saved the real firepower for the exquisite arrangements: sculpting strings and piano into beautifully melancholy ripples. Like Ane Brun and Seventh Tree-era Alison Goldfrapp, Obel is exceedingly good at conveying weariness and disorientation through sound: Run Cried the Crawling's pizzicato-plucked cello and otherworldly violin-swoops evoke the desolation of being awake at 3am, as do The Curse's precise droplets of strings and vocals. A wonderful autumn album.

Arriving at the launch pad of their fifth studio album, Norway’s The Low Frequency In Stereo are now about to take off. After years of flirting with the paramours of psychedelia, post-punk and retro space-rock these five Scandinavians have reached a point at which they are ready to shed the skin of their influences and stretch out into the firmament all on their very own.

Praised by the likes of David Fricke (Rolling Stone Magazine) and Michael Stipe (R.E.M) The Low Frequency In Stereo follow up their artistic triumph of the last album Futuro. The fifth incarnation of the band, called “Pop Obskura”, manifests the second consecutive collaboration with Norwegian producer Jørgen Træen (Motorpsycho, Jaga Jazzist, Kaizers Orchestra).
The band has set out to create a timeless, song- and vocals oriented artpop-album for a seasoned audience. Let's say compost rock meeting 60's cellar decadence. All in all it shows a cooler and subtler approach than the noisier venture of its predecessors, invoking associations to Broadcast, Yo La Tengo, Electrelane and Stereolab. References nonwithstanding, however, the tracks are of course all wrapped in the unique and easily identifiable soundscape guise that is and has always been The Low Frequency in Stereo.

The mid to late 1980s indie scenes in Britain--from C86 to Shoegaze--are a neglected moment in music history. There's been much coverage of punk, postpunk and the acid-house rave era of the early 90s, but the scene surrounding independent guitar-based music of the mid-80s has been largely overlooked. "A Scene In Between" looks at Britain's fashions, personalities and youth cultures from that era. Bands featured include Television Personalities, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Smiths, The Pastels, The Vaselines and more obscure bands such as The Shop Assistants, The Flatmates and countless others. Author Sam Knee has reconnected with a vast network of people and resources to unearth literally hundreds of previously unpublished photographs of the bands, fans, clubs and street fashion of the time. Taking a sartorial angle, he looks at anoraks, oversized jumpers, leather trousers, bowl-cut hairdos, blouse shirts, stripey tees and box jackets. Dave Conway of My Bloody Valentine and Douglas Hart of The Jesus and Mary Chain contribute reminiscences.

Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Manchester on May 22nd 1959. Singer-songwriter and co-founder of the Smiths (1982-1987), Morrissey has been a solo artist for twenty-six years, during which time he has had three number 1 albums in England in three different decades.
Achieving eleven Top 10 albums (plus nine with the Smiths), his songs have been recorded by David Bowie, Nancy Sinatra, Marianne Faithfull, Chrissie Hynde, Thelma Houston, My Chemical Romance and Christy Moore, amongst others.
An animal protectionist, in 2006 Morrissey was voted the second greatest living British icon by viewers of the BBC, losing out to Sir David Attenborough. In 2007 Morrissey was voted the greatest northern male, past or present, in a nationwide newspaper poll. In 2012, Morrissey was awarded the Keys to the City of Tel-Aviv.
It has been said 'Most pop stars have to be dead before they reach the iconic status that Morrissey has reached in his lifetime.'

The second film of Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise trilogy follows Anna Maria, the fanatically religious self-flagellating sister of the main character from Paradise: Love, who decides to spend her vacation time doing missionary work in the suburbs of Vienna. With a foot-high statue of the Virgin Mary in tow, she travels through immigrant communities imposing her beliefs on those she meets. Her work is interrupted by the surprise return of her husband Nabil, an Egyptian Muslim who has been absent for two years and is now confined to a wheelchair. He is shocked by the change in his wife, and the two soon engage in an abrasive theological face-off. With Paradise: Faith, the director gleefully examines the hypocrisies of religious zealotry through expressive confrontation, satire, and a shockingly explicit chance encounter. But the film also shows tenderness, as the relationship between husband and wife, fractured as it may have become, is their true saving grace.

U četiri naslovne priče, različiti muškarci odgovaraju na pitanja svojih sagovornica koje čitaoci nikad ne čuju. Volasovi ogavni muškarci u tim razgovorima rekonstruišu svoje odnose sa suprotnim polom i slikaju solipsističku pustoš savremenog doba.
Oni, međutim, nisu jedini (anti)junaci ove knjige.
