A press release explains that the six-song set completes a songwriting cycle that the group started with Pigeons while holed up in an Upstate New York farmhouse. The set promises to further the outfit’s otherworldly blend of “swirling guitars, Krautrock grooves, pulsing synths and hushed chants.”
“Hands in the Sky,” which you can download here, is a haunting number of ethereal new age keyboards, spectral backup vocals and Luke Temple’s tender falsetto. The rest of the 20-minute affair presents “a dichotomy between eerie folk sounds and driving art rock,” according to the press release.
The January EP comes out May 10 on Secretly Canadian.
